Your perfect customer is searching for someone just like you. They want exactly what you offer. They need your skills, expertise and solutions. But if your LinkedIn profile isn’t set up to grab their attention, they’ll find someone else.

When I started taking LinkedIn seriously, my business exploded. In one year my account grew from 7k to 30k followers, with a high proportion being my dream customers. This isn’t random, and it’s not luck. You can do it too. With intention, a process, and commitment to keep going, you can grow your business with help from LinkedIn.

You have everything you need to make this a success.

Win with LinkedIn: how to get seen by your next best client

Match their mindset from the start

Your LinkedIn profile needs to speak directly to your dream customer’s goals and challenges. Use your headline to show you understand their world. It appears in eight places around the platform, so those 220 characters matter. Don’t stuff it with buzzwords, but with specifics that make them check you out.

What keeps your perfect customer up at night? What do they want to achieve? What’s holding them back? Write your headline with those answers in mind. Use the format “I help [your customer] achieve [what they want] without [their biggest challenge].” Add your best credentials. Keep it short and focused.

Build your profile like a sales page

Your profile isn’t your CV. It’s your chance to show potential customers they’re in the right place. Start your summary with a line that names their biggest challenge. Follow it with proof you can help them overcome it. Add a few lines from a testimonial you’re proud of.

Break up walls of text into short paragraphs. Add bullet points that highlight your method, results and experience. Close with a clear call to action that tells them exactly what to do next. Your profile should feel like a conversation, not a corporate document.

Share your best work upfront

Your featured section shows up near the top of your profile for a reason. Use it to make clear exactly what you do, and showcase real results, not random certificates. Choose one or two elements of your work to add as featured images, then add thumbnails and links so they can find out more.

Display your most valuable content first, or lead with your highest-ticket offer. That’s for space number one. The second could be your mid-range solution or something free but valuable that builds your email list. Give profile visitors clear steps to take, from browsing to buying. Make it impossible to miss your best stuff.

Show up where they hang out

Your dream customers follow specific people. They engage with particular topics. Find the accounts and hashtags they care about. Save those profiles in a bookmark folder and check them daily. Leave thoughtful comments that showcase your expertise.

Show up intentionally where your perfect customer spends time. Add value to discussions they’re part of. Build relationships before you need them. Let people get familiar with your name by seeing you contribute regularly. Spark their curiosity to pull them to your profile.

Create content that captures attention

Random posts won’t cut it. Share insights that solve your dream customer’s specific problems. Break down your methods into clear steps. Tell stories about client wins that mirror what they want to achieve. Entice them to see what you’re about.

Focus your content on the transformation they desire. Skip the corporate jargon. Write like you talk. Make every post answer the question: “Why should they care?” Your content should feel like it was written just for them.

Level up your LinkedIn profile: get noticed by the right people

Your dream customers are waiting to find you on LinkedIn. Make your profile impossible to scroll past when you match their mindset from the start. Build it like a sales page that flows naturally. Share your best work upfront where they can’t miss it.

Show up consistently where they spend time. Create content that speaks directly to their needs. You know what your perfect customer wants. You have the expertise they need. Now get your profile set up to help them find you.
