Kim Kardashian has a passion for fashion, and she’s ready to show it off on the big screen.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum is set to play a villain role in the upcoming live-action Bratz movie, Deadline reported on Wednesday, June 25.
Kardashian, 44, will also serve as a producer for MGA Entertainment alongside Jason Larian and Jasmin Larian, as well as Erik Feig and Julia Hammer with Picturestart. Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick will write the script.
Details on the film remain scant, but Amazon MGM Studios has landed the project after winning an auction last year for an untitled thriller led by Kardashian.
On the heels of Barbie’s success in 2023, Bratz seems to be the logical next toy brand to try its hand in theaters. The fashion doll franchise debuted in 2001 has since spawned multiple TV and web series, video games and animated films. The line has sold more than 200 million dolls worldwide, according to Deadline, and has the highest social media engagement of any toy brand in the world across platforms.
Kardashian, for her part, is balancing her acting and producing roles with motherhood, modeling, reality TV and her journey toward becoming a lawyer. Still, she’s stayed active in front of and behind the camera. She’s currently starring in and producing the Eva Longoria-directed Netflix comedy movie The Fifth Wheel. She will also star in Hulu drama series All’s Fair and is producing the upcoming Hulu series Group Chat, starring La La Anthony.
It’s a full plate for Kardashian, but as her colleagues would attest, she is committed to her craft.
“I think it is absolutely time for people to take Kim Kardashian seriously as an actress,” Sarah Paulson told Yahoo! Entertainment in October. “She was absolutely excellent in American Horror Story: Delicate.”
Paulson, 49, is a longtime American Horror alum herself, though she did not appear in Delicate, the series’ 12th installment. Kardashian instead starred alongside Emma Roberts, who was also complimentary of her acting chops.
“I keep saying this, she knew every line and I just thought she was so good,” Roberts, 34, told Us Weekly exclusively last year. “I loved watching her and it was really fun to work with her. And I just love that every season of that show, Ryan Murphy always makes a fun surprise casting decision and it’s as fun for the viewers as it is for the other actors on the show.”
Roberts expanded in an interview with Extra in January 2024.
“I mean, she’s amazing. She’s a pro,” she said. “She’s one of the most prepared people I’ve ever worked with, and she’s just chill. I love her so much.”
