Their first meeting in August 2023 ended with Usyk scoring a ninth-round knockout, but not without drama. Dubois appeared to drop Usyk with a shot to the body in the fifth round, one that was immediately ruled a low blow by the referee. The call was deemed correct by the rulebook, but Dubois and his camp have argued ever since that it cost them the fight, claiming it was a legal shot that should’ve given him a knockdown.

Usyk, who was the WBA, WBO, and IBF champion at the time, retained his belts with the win.

With Tyson Fury stripped of the IBF title after refusing to fight Vyacheslav Glazkov, the belt was reinstated and now finds its way back to Dubois, setting up this rematch with all four major titles on the line. This will be a rare occasion when the world will once again crown an undisputed heavyweight champion.
