Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka’s daughter, Harper Grace, stole the show at the New York City premiere of Wicked: For Good.
Harper, 15, attended the Monday, November 17, event with Burtka, 50, donning a green sequined gown in an homage to Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba. The teen accessorized her look with a black fur coat and simple black heels. Burtka, for his part, donned a silver metallic suit jacket, black slacks and a white button-down shirt, seemingly a stylish nod to the Tin Man.
While Harris, who is currently starring in Art on Broadway, was missing from the premiere, his love for Harper and her twin brother, Gideon Scott, is unwavering. Earlier this fall, he opened up about his kids’ artistic abilities and supporting his son in his school’s theater production.
“Gideon is in his school play right now. He’s in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” Harris, 52, told People in September. “So it’s fun to have him watch me and to talk shop. And Harper is amazingly talented and artistic as well.”
The How I Met Your Mother alum shared that his kids had seen him perform in Art.
“Everyone has seen the show,” Harris told the outlet. “Harper came and saw it on Sunday, Gideon saw it by himself like three days before that and David has seen it twice, which I’m really chuffed by because I love that they’re able to come to the opening night and not say, ‘I hope it’s good,’ but sort of be representing and proud of papa and what he’s doing.”
Burtka and Harper were just some of the fashionable attendees on the red carpet at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on Monday. The premiere was full of A-listers, including the film’s stars, Erivo, 38, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Bowen Yang, Jeff Goldblum and director Jon M. Chu.
Chu, 46, and his wife, Kristin Hodge, also brought their five children along for the big night. The family wore coordinating green, pink and black outfits as they posed for adorable photos together on the red carpet.
The Big Apple premiere was a full-circle moment for the filmmaker, who missed the 2024 L.A. premiere of Wicked one year prior due to the birth of his youngest child, Stevie Sky.
“I can’t believe this happened while the movie is premiering,” Chu captioned a November 2024 post shared via his Instagram Stories. “Magic is in the air. Welcome to our world. You’re gonna do great. You have a lot of witches on your side.”
Chu also appeared in a recorded clip played at the L.A. premiere, explaining his absence.
“I’m so sorry I can’t be there,” he said in the clip at the time. “It’s November 9th, I was at the hotel across the street ready to come. My whole family’s there, my friends, all our loved ones are there. And I’ve waited for three years to have this moment to share our movie with you, but I’ve waited my whole life to have this moment to have our fifth child right now.”
Chu added, “Of course, this little girl knows when to show up, so anyway, I wish I could be there. But here I am.”
Wicked: For Good is out in theaters on Friday, November 21.
