Wrestling stars will collide at WWE’s upcoming Survivor Series WarGames, including two separate WarGames matches, and John Cena participating in his final match at the annual event. It’s his second-to-last match in his career, before he officially ends his retirement tour at December’s “Saturday Night’s Main Event.”
A tournament occurred to determine who Cena will face for that final match, but before he gets in the ring for that one, he’ll have a championship defense at WarGames. Cena puts his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Dominik Mysterio, the man he defeated for it several weeks ago on “Monday Night Raw.”
With the big event to occur this weekend, various WWE stars are making the rounds to discuss Survivor Series. That included Paul Heyman, who didn’t hesitate to speak about Cena before the huge upcoming matchup with Dom.
John Cena Shares Major WWE News for NXT Deadline
On a recent episode of ESPN’s “First Take,” host Shae Cornette asked Heyman about this being John Cena’s final appearance at a Survivor Series event. Heyman ensured he properly promoted one of wrestling’s all-time greats in his remarks about his upcoming match.
Heyman said to expect “The greatest John Cena Survivor Series performance you’ve ever seen” at this Saturday’s WarGames.
“John Cena is going out on top. John Cena is going out the same way John Cena came in. The hardest working man in the business and nothing but props for everything that John Cena brings to the table,” Heyman told ESPN’s “First Take” crew.
Cena defends his Intercontinental Championship, which he’s held for only several weeks. However, it carried great significance for him upon winning it, as he had never won it in his career. In addition, he became one of WWE’s grand slam champions by winning that title, adding it to his list of other championships won, including the United States, Tag Team, and World Heavyweight.
Interestingly enough, Heyman didn’t necessarily lay down any future challenges for Cena’s championship, even though a wrestler he represents often in WWE, Brock Lesnar, defeated Cena at Wrestlepalooza a few months ago. Lesnar returns to Survivor Series to participate in a huge men’s WarGames match this weekend.
In addition to Cena’s bit match with Dominik Mysterio, other matches include a men’s WarGames match, a women’s WarGames match, and Nikki Bella challenging Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Heavyweight Championship. Fans will be able to watch Survivor Series War Games on Saturday, Nov. 29, via the ESPN App beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
