Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said he hopes to see healthier airport snacks instead of “crap,” calorie-laden options in his latest crusade against status-quo airline etiquette, according to a report.
“I would love some better snacks. I would love a little healthier snack on the airplane,” Duffy told Blaze News in an interview on Tuesday.
“[It would be much better] if I didn’t get the really fattening cookie full of butter, sugar, and crap,” he added. “Or that little snack pack of pretzels.”
Duffy’s snack-related hot take follows his plea to the public to be more polite and wear nicer attire while catching flights during the busy Thanksgiving travel season.
“We’ve seen … maybe a degradation in civility, in the airspace,” Duffy told reporters during a press conference Monday. “You can’t legislate that, right? You can’t mandate it.”
“I think you won’t get a better result unless you make the ask.”
Duffy also encouraged passengers to step up and listen to their “better angels” by helping fellow flyers out with their heavy bags.
“Let’s try not to wear slippers and pajamas as we come here,” he said.
“If we can help someone as we get on the aircraft that might need to help putting their bag in the overhead bin, and you’re a little stronger, a little buffer, you’ve been lifting, stand up and offer to grab that bag and put it up for someone.”
The transportation secretary’s words drew praise from some stylish NYC fliers, and dismay from others who thought Duffy had “lost the plot” with his suggestion.
