Christmas has come to Netflix just a little bit early, especially if you’re on the lookout for holiday movies.
But since Christmas is just a few days away, it’s no surprise that the appropriate films are placing in Netflix’s top 10.
The Watch With Us team only picked one Christmas flick to go along with our selections for Netflix’s most popular movies you need to watch now.
Our remaining selections are a claustrophobic thriller and a true story with an A-list cast.
‘My Secret Santa’ (2025)
My Secret Santa is really stretching the limits of the suspension of disbelief if the filmmakers want us to believe that Virgin River star Alexandra Breckenridge is convincing as an old man playing Santa Claus. But you’re just going to have to go with it in this mixture of a reverse-gendered Mrs. Doubtfire and Miracle on 34th Street.
Breckenridge plays Taylor Jacobson, the single mother of a 15-year-old daughter, Zoey (Madison MacIsaac), who is desperate to make rent and save Christmas for her family. When a luxurious resort needs a new Santa, Taylor convinces her brother, Eric (William C. Vaughan), and his partner to disguise her as Hugh Mann. Things get really complicated when Taylor starts to fall in love with Matthew Layne (Ryan Eggold), the son of the resort’s owner, Robert Layne (Barry Levy). But if Taylor’s secret is exposed, then her new romance will be over before it starts.
My Secret Santa is streaming on Netflix.
‘The Wolf Hour’ (2019)
It’s the Summer of Sam in The Wolf Hour, which takes place in New York in 1977 when David Berkowitz was on the loose, and a heat wave caused everyone to overload their air conditioners. Naomi Watts gives a great performance as June Leigh, a writer whose words have abandoned her. June is also severely agoraphobic and can’t bring herself to leave her apartment. Her life is falling apart in slow motion, and June is either unable or unwilling to take the steps to change that.
As New York is preyed upon by the Son of Sam serial killer, June is tormented by someone outside of her building who is trying to get in. Has June been targeted by a killer? Or is her mind cracking under the pressure that she’s placed upon herself? There are other characters in this movie, but most of the fun comes from watching Watts play off of her character’s fears.
The Wolf Hour is streaming on Netflix.
‘Eden’ (2025)
Director Ron Howard assembled a really incredible cast for Eden that includes Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, Sydney Sweeney and Ana de Armas. Unfortunately, this real-life story didn’t catch fire at the box office, but the star power of its performers will likely land Eden a place on Netflix’s top 10 movie list.
Shortly after World War I, Dr. Friedrich Ritter (Law) and Dore Strauch (Kirby) attempt to escape the restrictions of society by resettling on the unpopulated isle of Floreana in the Galápagos Islands. They didn’t really want anyone to follow them, but Heinz (Brühl) and Margret Wittmer (Sweeney) soon arrive with their own dreams of a new life. Ritter and Strauch can tolerate the Wittmers, but it’s the Baroness Eloise Bosquet de Wagner Wehrhorn (de Armas) whom they can’t stand. The Baroness arrives on the island with her entourage, and she wants to transform this place of natural beauty into a resort. That’s not something that the other settlers will easily allow.
Eden will stream on Netflix on December 23.
