Think twice the next time you want to brew yourself a cup of coffee in your hotel room.
Nothing is worse than being on a trip and realizing you didn’t pack enough pairs of clean underwear. Thankfully, a content creator shared a simple solution to this problem — but it’s one that has people horrified and scratching their heads.
Content creator Tara Woodcox took to Instagram to explain her bizarre, and rather gross, hack.
“Say you’re traveling and you didn’t pack enough underwear and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, what am I going to wear tomorrow?’ Every room has a coffee pot thing in it. All you have to do is put your underwear where you put the coffee grounds, you close it, you press brew and it puts scorching hot water through it,” she explained in the viral clip.
“The hair dryer in the bathroom? You blow-dry those bad boys and you’ve got yourself a cleaner pair of underwear to wear. I did not realize how many people already knew this hack. I learned it years ago from a friend that was a flight attendant and it’s brilliant,” the content creator continued.
Anyone brave enough to try this hack should not take Woodcox’s explanation so literally because, clearly, a pair of skivvies would not fit where the coffee grinds, or pod would go. Instead, let the scorching hot water pour over your underwear to disinfect them.
It goes without saying that commenters were shocked beyond belief to learn how some people are using hotel coffee makers.
“Not brilliant. Let’s bring back having consideration for others! Make that cool again….” one person complained underneath Woodcox’s video.
“I’m shocked this video hasn’t been deleted, this surely has to be evidence for hotels to take action,” quipped someone else. “This is so unsettling, I’m so concerned for anyone who has caught anything from your or anyone listening to this advice…”
Someone else chimed in with what everyone was thinking while watching this video: “I’ll never use a hotel room coffee maker again.”
Others questioned how this is the best hack for cleaning undies: “Or wash them in the sink with hot water AND soap.”
And some wondered at the seriousness of this tip: “If it’s supposed to be funny, it isn’t.”
