Was it a case of punch-drunk love?
A “very drunk” Ryanair passenger is in hot water after punching a cop while being arrested during an international flight, as seen in a wild clip.
The kerfuffle reportedly kicked off June 16 aboard a flight from Edinburgh, UK, to Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Jam Press reported.
According to fly-witness Ritchie Denholm, who caught the altercation on camera, the couple involved were reportedly quite inebriated before even boarding the aircraft.
“They were very drunk before leaving Edinburgh, lover’s tiff, and it all started,” the Edinburgh resident recalled.
Their lovers’ quarrel soon spiraled out of control, prompting several crew members to intervene, seemingly putting a lid on the volatile situation.
However, when they realized they would get arrested upon landing, the liquor-logged couple decided to raise hell anew.
In the wild clip, officers can be seen making their way down the airplane aisle toward the disruptive pair.
However, when one of the cops grabbed the perp to try to remove him, the mile-high hellion punched him in the face.
That’s when he faced the literal long arm of the law.
The authorities retaliated by holding the suspect down as one of the officers proceeded to whale on with a baton-like instrument while the other pummels him into submission.
The onboard brawl left passengers “scared and shocked,” per Denholm, who felt personnel could’ve done a better job of nipping the ruckus in the bud.
“No one should put anyone at risk on a flight considering things that have happened on flights in the past,” he declared. “There should be more security on flights to stop anyone intoxicated getting on.”
In a similar incident in February, a Ryanair flight was delayed for two hours because a drunk passenger refused to stop jabbering away on their phone while the plane was taxiing for takeoff.
The captain eventually decided to make a U-turn and head back to the gate, where authorities boarded the aircraft and offloaded the bozo.
