Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to address the United Nations General Assembly at around 10am.
The PM will also make a separate speech at a social media event, Protecting Children in the Digital Age, in which he is expected to urge world leaders to join in on Australia’s crackdown on children’s access to social media, following the government’s social media ban for users under the age of 16.

Albanese also addressed a climate summit early this morning when he announced Australia’s national climate statement, reinforcing the government’s 2035 emissions targets and net zero pledge.
While Australia has been angling for a sideline meeting with the Turkish president to discuss the two nations’ competing bid to host COP31, a meeting has yet to be confirmed.
