Baby Driver actor Hudson Joseph Meek died after falling off a moving vehicle at the age of 16.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” a Saturday, December 21, statement on Meek’s official Instagram read. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

The statement added, “Please pray for Hudson’s family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss.”

Meek, who is survived by parents Lani and Derek and brother Tucker, sustained blunt force trauma after he fell from a moving vehicle, according to local NBC affiliate WVTM.

Per the outlet, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said in a statement that Meek died 48 hours after he was ejected from a vehicle on the 1900 block of Canyon Road near Highway 31. An investigation is currently ongoing.

Meek’s professional acting credits date back to 2014 and include The Santa Con, episodes of the MacGyver reboot, The School Duel and Baby Driver. Meek portrayed the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s Baby in the 2017 film.

“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the untimely passing of Hudson Meek, a beloved member of the JPTA family,” an Instagram statement shared by J. Pervis Talent Agency read. “Hudson was an extraordinary young talent, whose dedication, passion, and promise shone brightly within our industry. Over the past 10 years, he contributed so much to the spirit of our agency and his loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all of us.”

The message continued, “Hudson was more than just a talent, he was a source of inspiration and touched so many lives with his enthusiasm, kindness, smile and innate ability to light up a room and never meet a stranger.  He will be remembered with great affection by us all.”

Several of Meek’s loved ones and friends paid tribute in emotional social media tributes.

“I am so so sorry. Keeping you are all in my prayers. 🤍🙏,” Descendants actress Brenna D’Amico wrote via Instagram comment.

Meek’s older brother, Tucker, replied, “I’m gonna miss you Hud. Love you bro.”

A celebration of life service in Meek’s honor is scheduled for Saturday, December 28, in Homewood, Alabama.

“Hudson’s personality was one of a kind. He was confident, convicted in his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted,” an obituary read. “He never let the facts get in the way of a funny story, and he loved friendly banter. He was a prankster, loved a good joke, and was happiest when he was making others laugh. Hudson thrived in settings that allowed him to me.”
