Tom Pestock, the wrestler formerly known as Baron Corbin, has confirmed that he is officially no longer under any contract with WWE and seems to be putting himself out there to “create” something new in 2025.

In a social media post on Twitter/X, Pestock stated, “I’m officially no longer under contract since I was not fired. I was told they were not extending. So if you’re making a horror movie, let me know ha ha ha ha New year, no contract, let’s see what we can create.”
It was reported back in November that Pestock’s contract with WWE as Baron Corbin was not being renewed (or extended, as the former champion himself puts it).
However, it can be inferred from his social media statement that his prior contract ran through the end of 2024 to some degree or another; that likely prevented him from signing with a rival promotion like AEW or TNA.
The beginning of 2025 seems to be freeing up a number of prominent wrestlers from unrenewed contracts. In addition to the former Baron Corbin, “Speedball” Mike Bailey is reportedly done with his contract with TNA and is speculated to be “imminently” joining AEW.

Pestock signed with WWE in 2012 under the NXT brand. He quickly rose through the ranks and debuted on the main roster at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, where he won the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Over the next decade, Corbin became a fixture in WWE, collecting notable accolades like the Money in the Bank contract in 2017, the King of the Ring title in 2019, and the WWE United States Championship.
From 2018 to 2019, Corbin played the role of Constable of Raw, serving as a corporate figure under Stephanie McMahon.
In 2019, he adopted the “King Corbin” persona after winning the King of the Ring tournament, but he would lose his crown to Shinsuke Nakamura.
Over time, Corbin’s character evolved into several gimmicks, including the Happy Corbin phase and a partnership with JBL. His final WWE run saw him team with Bron Breakker to win the NXT Tag Team Championship in 2024.
After the news that he was not being renewed by WWE in 2024 broke, Corbin shared a cooking video on social media, responding to a fan who said, “WWE fumbled the bag letting him go,” with the comment, “I appreciate that and feel the same.”
