The Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are NFC North rivals. Both teams are looking to make a push for a playoff run this season, but they both have major questions at the quarterback position.
Caleb Williams is the starter for the Bears, while J.J. McCarthy is the starter for the Vikings. Both young signal callers appear to have top-notch potential, but they have yet to prove that they can be a star-caliber player on the field.
With that being said, both teams have quarterback room questions past their starting situation.
Chicago currently has Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent competing for the backup job behind Williams. Minnesota, on the other hand, has Sam Howell penciled in as their backup.
Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Provides Major Injury Update
At this point, the Bears look to be more set behind their young quarterback than the Vikings do.
Could the two teams potentially come together on a quarterback trade before the 2025 NFL season? That is what one idea has suggested.
Max Dible of Heavy has suggested a deal between the two teams that would send Bagent to Minnesota in exchange for draft capital.
“Bagent, on the other hand, could probably net the Bears a Day-3 draft pick from a team like the Vikings, which isn’t set at QB2 and also has questions about starter J.J. McCarthy due to his inexperience and all of his unknowns,” Dible wrote.
Howell has been questioned all offseason long as the backup behind McCarthy. He has shown flashes of talent, but the consistency simply has not been there. Bringing in a player like Bagent who has drawn strong reviews in Chicago would make a lot of sense.
Bagent has played in nine games through his first two years with the Bears. He has completed 66.2 percent of his pass attempts for 870 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also rushing for 102 yards and two scores.

Making the move would give the Vikings another backup option.
Again, this is simply an idea and the two teams have not been reported to have had trade discussions. However, if Minnesota decides that it needs to bring in another option behind McCarthy, making a call to Chicago could be the move to make.
On the flip side, it’s possible that Bagent will win the Bears’ backup quarterback job and Keenum would then be the odd man out of the room in Chicago.
