Bill Gates has been divorced for over three years, but that doesn’t mean he’s still single.
The 69-year-old billionaire revealed that he is in a relationship during an interview with Today on Tuesday, February 4.
“That’s right, I’m lucky to have a serious girlfriend,” he told the outlet before adding, “Her name’s Paula.”
Speculation that Bill and Paula Hurd (the widow of Mark Hurd, the former CEO of Oracle) were dating started in 2022 after the two were spotted at several sporting events.
A close friend of the couple confirmed that Bill and Paula, 60, had “been together over a year” and that they were “inseparable,” according to a report by Daily Mail published in February 2023.
The former Microsoft CEO also told Today that he wouldn’t change anything about the time he spent married to his ex-wife, Melinda French Gates.
“It’s even hard for me to complain about things. I moved past the divorce,” he admitted and explained, “Melinda’s doing well. I got a lot of work that I love to do. Despite the fact that the divorce wasn’t great, having those three kids and the work we were able to do, even if I knew it wouldn’t last forever, I would still do it again.”
The “Source Code” author most recently admitted that his divorce from Melinda, also 60, is “the mistake [he] most regrets” in an article by The Times of London published on Sunday, January 25. He also told the outlet, “you would have to put [his divorce] at the top of the list [of regrets]. There are others but none that matters. The divorce thing was miserable for me and Melinda for at least two years.”
Bill and Paula’s relationship started nearly four years after the death of her husband and about one year after Bill’s divorce from his ex-wife.
Melinda and Bill started dating in 1987 and got married in 1994. They were together for 27 years before they split up in 2021. The couple welcomed three children during their time together: Jennifer, 28, Rory, 25, and Phoebe, 22.
