The body of a tourist reported missing after going for a swim on the Gold Coast has been recovered.
The 20-year-old was reported missing in the surf on Tuesday night after he was seen struggling off Main Beach near Breaker Street about 6.30pm on Tuesday.
Witnesses attempted to help but lost sight of the man in the water.
Police boats, jet skis and aircraft were launched, but the search was called off about 8.30pm because of the lack of light.
It resumed at dawn on Wednesday. As of 8am, the man had not been found.
The man’s body was found just after 1:40pm on Wednesday, police said.
Police said they were unsure where he was from, but confirmed he was visiting Australia.
