Emergency responders rushed to Abundant Life Fellowship Church on State Route 12 in Boonville, New York, on Tuesday after reports of a powerful explosion at the building. Oneida County Emergency Services said fire and rescue crews were dispatched after reports of an explosion at the church near 12644 New York State Route 12, with witnesses reporting the smell of gas beforehand.
At least five people were injured, and as many as 13 required medical attention, officials told local news outlets. Two medical helicopters were requested to transport critically injured patients as crews from multiple surrounding communities responded to the scene.
