Five men and a teenage boy have been arrested following an alleged break-and-enter at a Chermside jewellery store last month, during which an employee was hit on the head with a hammer.

Police said a masked group of men entered the Gympie Road store about 5pm on June 10, using hammers and metal bars to smash glass cabinets and take jewellery.

A 38-year-old male employee in the store was allegedly struck during the break-in, and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for serious facial and head injuries.

Officers said the group fled with a large amount of jewellery in a grey Honda CR-V station wagon, which was reported stolen from an Alfred Circuit address, in Calamvale, on June 8.

Between June 11 and 15, police searched several vehicles across Brisbane and Logan, recovering items they believed were linked to the break-in.

Two men – a 25-year-old from Carseldine and a 22-year-old from Goodna – were arrested on Tuesday after police stopped a vehicle.

A 16-year-old boy was also arrested and charged with more than seven offences.

Three men, aged 20, 25, and 29, from suburbs in southern Brisbane and Logan were also charged for offences linked to the alleged robbery and assault, including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, armed robbery, and endangering a child by exposure.

All six appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, although police have asked for public help to find a seventh man, aged 21, from Mount Gravatt they believe could assist with inquiries.
