Rehearsals have begun for a Brisbane Festival performance featuring 100 local electric guitar players.

The performance will take place at the Brisbane Powerhouse Turbine Platform on Sunday from 3pm.

Canadian composer Tim Brady said 120 guitarists had signed up to take part, representing a range of ages and experience.

Rehearsals for Tim Brady’s 100 Electric Guitars project in Brisbane Festival.

“The [skill] level is extremely good and even those players who are not very experienced are jumping on board and they’re moving forward very quickly,” he said.

“The guitars are spaced around the room, so the music moves around the room. So it’s a very different experience from a regular concert.”

Brady’s composition, which also features Brisbane’s Topology quintet, will be performed four times on Sunday.

“For those 16 minutes and three seconds, the world stops and you are just there in the music,” Brady said.

Tickets for the free performances have been exhausted, however some walk-ins might be admitted in the case of no-shows.
