The Stockton rapper who reportedly went into hiding after a monstrous mass shooting at a little girl’s birthday party has broken his weeks-long silence to share condolences about the Nov. 29 incident that left four dead and wounded 11 others.
“What happened in Stockton has left families carrying an unimaginable loss,” rapper MBNel wrote in a Dec. 20 Instagram post.
“Out of respect, I am choosing to move quietly and intentionally. I will not be speaking on details or speculation,” he added.
The rapper’s father, Junior Dongon, told The Post this month that his son, whose real name is Johnel Dongon, was among those wounded in the massacre and he had fled to the Sacramento area due to violence.
The rapper moved out of the Stockton area two years ago out of fears for his safety, including an incident where thugs “shot 22 bullets” at his parents’ house a few years ago, according to Junior Dongon.
“He just came to drop off a present at his friend’s party, whose daughter was the celebrant,” Junior Dongon said. “He was shot, but he is OK. … He called me and said, ‘Don’t say anything to anybody.’”
Three children and one young adult were killed after gunfire erupted at Monkey Space banquet hall at a 2-year-old’s birthday party. Several others were injured.
The horrifying incident sent the crime-ridden city of roughly 300,000 into mourning and was related to gang violence, according to Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi.
The deceased victims included 14-year-old Amari Peterson, a star student whose anguished father described him as “the perfect kid,” and Maya Lupian, a third grader just two weeks away from her 9th birthday.
No arrests have been made in the mass shooting, despite pleas from community leaders for people with information to come forward.
Two partygoers were arrested for parole violations in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, but neither were considered suspects.
Stockton police also arrested five people for gun- and gang-related charges in the hours following the event, but there was no indication they were connected to the shooting, according to CBS News.
