Candace Cameron Bure is an open book about her relationship with husband Valerie Bure, including their highs and lows.

“We had great years. We had some years I wish we could take back and do over,” Cameron Bure, 49, confessed about her marriage during the Monday, November 17, episode of the “Stay True” podcast. “It’s a constant reevaluation.”

The Fuller House alum explained, “I think year to year you have to reevaluate what’s working, what’s not. How are the schedules changing? And you have to continually adapt to what’s new to figure out your rhythms, and the rhythms are going to keep changing.”

Cameron Bure noted that “having a flexibility” is important “with each other as husband and wife, because that’s the first thing that’s going to go.”

She told host Madi Prewett, “Your marriage gets put to the test,” especially when you have children.

“You have kids that come in and they demand all of you. Then they get a little older and then they pit you against your husband,” Cameron Bure said with a laugh. “You don’t even realize it. They’re little manipulative beings that are so stinking cute.”

The Great American Family actress, who has been married 29 years, reiterated that “finding those rhythms and really finding time with you and your husband” on a deeper level is key.

“If I could lend you some advice, that would be it. You have to prioritize the relationship,” Cameron Bure added.

Cameron Bure revealed on her “Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” in July that she and Bure, 51, went through a “rough season,” before their eldest son, Lev, 25, sat them down and told them to put in the work.

“I’ll never forget, ’cause he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. I’m just a young kid. And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says,’” Cameron Bure recalled of her son’s guidance.

The actress, who also shares daughter Natasha, 27, and son Maksim, 23, with Bure, exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month that the couple have been through many “seasons.”

“There are days I wrestle with brokenness. I have experienced that,” Cameron Bure said on November 4. “I mean, we all do. I don’t know that it’s [something] I feel daily, but there have been seasons of that in my life.”

She acknowledged that the duo experienced times of “deep brokenness,” but by turning to God — who she described as “in the restoration business” — they were able to get to the best place they’ve been in a while.

“I’m more in love with my husband today than when we met. He is truly my best friend,” Cameron Bure told Us. “We’re in a different season of life because our kids are grown. We have two that are married, and you have to find your relationship again when the kids get older. And so we’re in this great season of life.”
