Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Josh Simmons returned to action in Sunday’s Week 11 matchup against the Denver Broncos, ending his mysterious four-game absence.
Simmons, a rookie first-round draft pick, suddenly left the team hours before kickoff of a Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions. The Chiefs provided no details regarding his absence, citing unspecified “personal reasons.”
On Wednesday, Simmons spoke to reporters for the first time since his absence.
“I just want to keep it in-house, all due respect,” Simmons said when asked about his absence. “That’s just something I want to keep inside.”
Simmons thanked the Chiefs organization for supporting him through his time away from the team.
“I want to thank the entirety of Kansas City, and this club, for having my six during the time I was away from the team,” Simmons added. “It showed how much love this team and city has for me, and I can’t wait to give it back to them.”

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised Simmons during his media availability on Wednesday.
“He’s a great player,” Mahomes said, via ESPN. “He’s gotten better every week that he’s played. He’ll continue to get better. For him, it’s just to continue to stack days on days of just pushing himself to be the best player that he can be. The sky’s the limit. He’s just got to keep pushing to get even better.”
The 5-5 Chiefs will look to get their 2025 season back on track in a Week 12 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
