The Indianapolis Colts received a potentially devastating blow to their hopes of making a serious push in the NFL Playoffs, as they seemingly lost starting quarterback Daniel Jones in the first half of Sunday’s game.
The Colts’ star QB went down in the second quarter of the matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, seemingly to injure the lower part of his leg when planting his foot on a throw. Jones stumbled back and fell on the field. He motioned over to the sidelines before sitting down, clutching at his lower leg, with play stopping as trainers went over to check on him.
Eventually, Jones left the game, requiring help from trainers to walk off the field and go to the medical tent for further evaluation. At that time, his return status was questionable due to the non-contact injury he sustained against Jacksonville.

In a further update, Underdog NFL reported that Jones would not return due to an Achilles injury, which is certainly not ideal for the Colts or Jones, who was already playing hurt on his leg.
A video arrived online from NFL insider Adam Schefter showing Jones crumble after the non-contact play, after he threw a pass to his Colts teammate.
In the clip, Jones is clearly frustrated after going down, removing his helmet, and slamming it to the ground as trainers check on him.
Jones went 5-for-7 for 60 yards with one interception before leaving the game. Backup quarterback Riley Leonard filled in once Jones was ruled out, but he may have been in just to watch the Jaguars roll to victory, as they led 21-10 late in the second quarter.
The Colts’ season was off to a terrific start under Jones, who at one time looked like he was among the potential NFL Most Valuable Playoff contenders. However, they’ve now lost their star with Jacksonville looking to take control of the division, and drop the Colts to a lower spot in the AFC Playoff picture.
