A TikTok video has gone viral after a couple discovered a “hidden” door and “secret” third floor space during their stay at an Airbnb in Colorado.

The clip was shared by Connor Moynihan (@connormoynihan4) and has amassed 4.8 million views since it was posted on July 16. The couple found a “hidden door and a mysterious third floor we couldn’t access,” according the caption of the post.

The clip shows Moynihan revealing a concealed door behind a kitchen bookcase. The video, filmed during a stay in 2024, documents how a suspicious-looking cabinet in the kitchen transformed into an entryway after Moynihan pressed a hidden button at the top.

“The Airbnb is in Canon City, Colorado,” Moynihan told Newsweek. He and his wife Jess had booked the house for a climbing trip to celebrate her birthday. “We were looking for a nice place to celebrate with our friends, it had lots of beds and a hot tub,” he said.

A video from January 2024 shows that the disguised door opened to a stairway descending into a basement. Moynihan told Newsweek that the basement contained “some more weird rooms and a locked door that said ‘do not open.'”

The mystery deepened when the couple noticed something strange about the house’s structure—a “secret third floor.”

“We noticed windows to a third floor when looking at [the house] on the street,” Moynihan said. That floor had no visible access from inside the house.

A spokesperson for Airbnb told Newsweek: “This stay happened in 2024 and the guest accessed an attic and a basement, which are common in many homes. We were not contacted about this at the time, but if a guest ever has a concern our 24/7 Customer Support team is always available.”

The spokesperson emphasized that hosts can designate off-limit areas within their listings. “Hosts have the ability to set House Rules in their listing description, including on off-limit areas of a space, which guests can see before booking and are asked to respect during a stay,” the spokesperson said.

No formal concerns were reported by the guest or host, according to Airbnb.

The couple eventually discovered how to reach the elusive third floor, according to a later video shared on TikTok. “We explored all the rooms in the house and looked at all the corners and little nooks and we ended up finding an entrance to a secret third floor in one of the guest bathrooms,” Moynihan said in the video.

He explained to Newsweek that the area “looked like it used to be a living space but was now more of an attic. The basement was creepy, but we did not find anything dangerous or scary down there.”

“This area used to be a living space with remnants of an old staircase in the beginning of it,” Moynihan says in the later clip. “I had to crawl through a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom to get up here. But you can see it has a water heater, windows and piping.”

It seemed the couple was not alone in discovering hidden features at the Airbnb, as past visitors apparently had similar experiences. Moynihan’s follow-up video includes screenshots of positive reviews from other guests. “It looks like some of them have found hidden staircases and some cool things in the house,” he says in the video.
