The Chicago Cubs gave up a pair of minor league pitching prospects, Ryan Gallagher and Sam Armstrong, to the Minnesota Twins to acquire utility player Willi Castro at the 2025 trade deadline.
Now, it appears Castro’s time in Chicago ended after two months.

Castro became a free agent at the conclusion of the 2025 World Series. On Thursday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN reported that the 28-year-old veteran signed a two-year contract with the Colorado Rockies.
Castro is a career .244 hitter with 56 home runs and 75 stolen bases for the Detroit Tigers (2019-22), Twins (2023-25) and Cubs.
