The Cleveland Browns (3–10) aren’t playing for much anymore, having been eliminated from postseason contention with four games remaining. Still, the energy in Cleveland remains high for one reason: rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Sanders is set to make his fourth career NFL start on Sunday in frigid conditions in Chicago against the 9–4 Bears. He’ll be doing so with several injuries along the offensive line, making the challenge even greater.
Despite the obstacles, Sanders is coming off the best performance of his young career last week against the Tennessee Titans, throwing for over 360 yards and accounting for four total touchdowns.
Ahead of Sunday’s game, Shedeur received a message from his biggest supporter—his father and former NFL legend Deion Sanders—who has attended several of his games in recent weeks.
“Let’s go, baby! Love you, son, and so proud of you. God got us!” Sanders wrote on Instagram.

Sanders experienced one of the most dramatic draft-day slides in recent memory. He had been projected for most of the offseason to go in the first round, but ultimately was selected in the fifth round by the Browns—after they had already taken Dillon Gabriel at quarterback in the third round.
Despite that, Sanders made the roster, worked his way up the depth chart, and has patiently waited for his opportunity. He doesn’t plan on giving it back.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has named him the starter for the final four games, which could serve as a critical audition to determine whether Sanders could be Cleveland’s long-term solution at quarterback or if the team should look for another QB in next April’s draft.
