An incident in Los Angeles left 30 injured after a driver plowed into a crowd early Saturday morning. Capt. Adam Van Gerpen, public information officer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department, told reporters that out of the 30 injured, 23 were transported to medical facilities. Van Gerpen also confirmed that one person with a gunshot wound was taken for treatment. Los Angeles Police Department is investigating whether the incident was intentional.
The suspect was allegedly removed from a business in the area prior to the collision, according to police. No specific business was mentioned.
Los Angeles police say some bystanders got into a physical altercation with the driver at the scene. LAPD also confirmed there was a shooting and said it appears the driver was the victim, but said the connection between the driver and the shooter is unknown. The suspect is a Hispanic man about 5 feet 9 inches tall and around 180 pounds.
