The Indianapolis Colts got their excellent 2025 NFL campaign back on track in Week 10, taking down the Atlanta Falcons in an international matchup in Berlin, Germany.
Daniel Jones and the Colts offense got the team in position to kick a game-tying field goal late in the fourth quarter, sending the game into overtime.
Veteran NFL referee Clete Blakeman led the pre-overtime coin toss at centerfield, deeming Indianapolis the visiting team at Olympiastadion Berlin. The Colts won the toss and elected to receive the ball to start the overtime period.
The Colts were not the visiting team, though. The NFL designated Indianapolis as the home team when building its international schedule for the 2025 season.
The referees re-did the coin toss during a commercial break on NFL Network. The Falcons won the re-do and elected to receive.
This wasn’t Blakeman’s first mistake of the game. The veteran NFL official ended regulation with an intentional grounding penalty on Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr., announcing that Atlanta was unable to stop the 10-second runoff because they were out of timeouts.
There was 11 seconds remaining in the game and Atlanta had two timeouts.
