“I think it was 15 fouls before they got a yellow in the game, and I don’t think that’s a good thing, especially the way we want to play.
“Even though the referee corrected it early in the second half, I think it was too late, because we could have capitalised a little bit earlier.”
Glory coach David Zdrilic was impressed with Eze’s first-up display.
“He’s physical and he’s got a really physical profile and that’s uncomfortable to play against at times,” Zdrilic said.
“We identified him. We saw that he’s going to make those runs. He’s going to be challenging.
“And he was – he’s a tough, tough guy to play against. It’s a very good signing for them.”
Italiano is predicting big things for Eze, who has an important responsibility to fill the void left by Kosta Barbarouses following his departure to Western Sydney.
“I think he (Eze) is a different player, awkward player, very hard to defend,” Italiano said.
“He can do some amazing things with the ball.
“He just makes some weird movements and very unpredictable. And I think in this league, it’s going to take a very, very good defender to stop him.”
Glory are away to Melbourne City next Saturday, while Wellington host Brisbane on Sunday.
