Scott Porter had some Ginny & Georgia fans worried about Paul’s story line for season 4 following that controversial fight with Georgia — and that baby twist.
Porter, 45, took to Instagram on Sunday, July 13, to share a photo of him and costars Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry and Diesel La Torraca, who play various members of the Miller family.
“For the better part of 3 seasons l’ve had the pleasure of being a small part of the Miller household with these three crazy talented and incredible humans. Every scene with them is a joy and it’s been a blast,” he wrote. “Exploring all the angles of what stepping into a house and a family that’s not yours by blood was awkward and funny and tough and touching, and none of it happens without the anchors of our show.”
Porter admitted that he doesn’t “know what the future holds” when it comes to his character Paul and Georgia (Howey), adding, “But if I’m done for good as a piece of the Miller household, I know I’m gonna miss the dance parties and movie nights with these folks. Cheers to all the way-to-big breakfast spreads that Georgia would always put out.”
The post concluded with Porter clarifying that Paul will still be a part of the show.
“I’ll still see y’all in Wellsbury. I ain’t going anywhere,” he noted. “This is just an appreciation post!”
Paul initially became a part of Georgia’s family when they started dating in season 1. Two seasons later, they called it quits after she lied about her murderous past — and pretended she was pregnant to get him to stay. But in a twist of irony, Georgia ended season 3, which aired in June, with the realization that she is actually expecting a baby … and she doesn’t know if Paul or Joe (Raymond Ablack) is the father.
“Listen, our show deals in high drama. We rarely take the easy way out,” Porter exclusively teased to Us Weekly last month. “If you want all of this craziness to continue, it being Paul’s baby is pretty interesting.”
Porter added that he could see why Joe is a contender as well, saying, “The show has definitely let you know that there is something that needs to be explored with Joe and Georgia. If you want to see that to its complete [and] happy ending — which I’m not sure we get on our show — then Joe should be the dad.”
While Paul and Georgia’s relationship is over, Porter didn’t rule out the possibility that they would eventually return to each other’s lives in the future.
“[Her ex] Gil is going to prison for good now. [Georgia’s son] Austin is still there and I think Paul and Austin have a very special relationship,” he continued. “I love that relationship and I would love to see that continue. I think that Paul has a desire to still be involved in Austin’s life — even if he’s not 100 percent involved in the family. Georgia’s still a massive force in his town of Wellsbury. They’re going to cross paths and she’s definitely going to be involved in the goings on. So Paul is going to have to face her.”
Porter concluded: “Maybe we could get back to a little bit more of that wit and that banter where they’re light with each other on the surface. But I think that would be such a fun thing to do in season 4. They’re definitely not out of each other’s lives for good. I don’t know whose baby it is. I don’t know what happens with the baby. I don’t know anything happening in season 4 but I think that Paul and Georgia dynamic will still exist.”
Ginny & Georgia is currently streaming on Netflix.
