Playing guard for the Indiana Fever is proving to be one of the more dangerous jobs in the WNBA this season.
The Fever are already down three of their top players in Caitlin Clark, who hasn’t played in a month while nursing a right groin injury, and Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald, who are both out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL and broken right foot, respectively.
Clark has been limited to just 13 of Indiana’s 35 games while battling multiple injuries this season, including a left groin injury, a quadriceps injury, and a hand injury that sidelined her during the preseason.

The Fever are 10-11 in games without Clark this season, and 8-5 in games she’s played.
And now, the team is down its fourth guard after Sophie Cunningham left Sunday’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun in the second quarter with a right knee injury.

A slow-motion video of the incident emerged on social media showing the moment the injury happened. As Sun guard Bria Hartley was driving to the lane, she attempted to pass the ball to an open teammate, and in the process, collided with Cunningham’s leg as she fell to the court.
Cunningham immediately grabbed her leg and hopped around near the baseline before ultimately falling to the court while writhing in pain.
The 28-year-old Missouri alum couldn’t put weight on her leg and had to be helped to the back by the Fever training staff. She was ruled out for the rest of the game after logging a rebound in 10 minutes of action.

If Cunningham misses any time, the Fever will be down to just Lexie Hull, Kelsey Mitchell, and Odyssey Sims, and Kyra Lambert, who was signed to a seven-day contract on Thursday.
An update on Cunningham’s status isn’t known at time of publication, but an update could become available at the conclusion of the game. The Sun have a 72-60 lead with 7:34 left in the fourth quarter. If Indiana loses, it would mark its third straight and fifth defeat in its last six games.
