Joe Flacco has had one wild journey of a football career.

He’s gone from making a name for himself as a quarterback at Delaware before getting overlooked amongst the giants of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in the AFC to then toppling them to bring the Baltimore Ravens a Super Bowl.

Every step of the way, he’s been challenged on how good he truly is, eventually becoming a journeyman in the league. When a team needs a steady hand and someone who can pull out a victory from out of nowhere, they trade for Flacco, as he has played for five different teams since leaving Baltimore.

But throughout all of his highs and lows, there was one thing that Flacco hadn’t accomplished until today.

He finally became a Pro Bowler.

Following a campaign in which he played for both the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, two of the Ravens’ greatest rivals, the 41-year-old was celebrated on Friday with the announcement that he would be competing in the Pro Bowl Games next week in San Francisco, in the lead-up to Super Bowl LX.

The news comes after the Browns added another QB, Shedeur Sanders, to the event following a series of injuries and declines among other premier signal-callers in the AFC Conference.

While Sanders’ addition sparked a firestorm of takes and grievances, Flacco’s is being seen as more of a lifetime achievement selection following his 18 years in the league.

In fact, Flacco, even bouncing around teams, had much stronger stats than the rookie Sanders this season, throwing for 2,479 yards with 15 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. Sanders had 1,400 passing yards with seven touchdowns to 10 interceptions.

Flacco will represent the Bengals at the event alongside fellow wideouts Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

The Pro Bowl Games will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco next Tuesday.
