Princess Kate Middleton is showing off the artistic abilities of her and Prince William’s three kids.
“The @earlychildhood Shaping Us Framework describes the social and emotional skills which start to develop in early childhood,” read a caption shared via the official Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account on Monday, February 17. “These skills are key throughout our lives, shaping who we are, how we manage our thoughts and emotions, how we communicate with and relate to others, and how we explore the world around us.”
Kate, 43, established the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood in 2021 “to raise awareness of why the first five years of life are just so important for our future life outcomes.”
“Drawing portraits with children can provide a moment of connection as you spend time looking at and focusing on one another, as well as being creative and – most importantly – having lots of fun together!” the caption continued.
All three of Kate and William’s children seemed to draw sketches of their mother. While Prince Louis, 6, opted for red and orange colors for his drawing, Princess Charlotte, 9, chose blue, green, purple and yellow for hers of a person with long hair. Prince George, 11, utilized a black stroke to seemingly capture his mother sitting in a chair. Kate, for her part, seemed to depict Louis with his eyes closed.
Kate has been known for her creative side, majoring in art history at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Kate met William, 42, when they were both attending the university in 2001. (The couple tied the knot 10 years later in 2011.)
William has given Kate — who revealed last year that she was diagnosed with cancer — sweet shout-outs through the years on her art. While spending time at the new charity facility WEST Youth Zone in March 2024, William decorated cookies and was complimented on his frosting design. He replied, “It’s really not impressive work. My wife is the arty one, my children are artier than I am.”
Kate’s artistic genes appear to run in the family. The proud parents previously gave a glimpse of George’s hidden talent while celebrating the holidays in 2022, uploaded a photo of their eldest child’s painting of a reindeer via their social media. The image was complete with snow perched on the animal’s nose and two red-colored birds in the background featuring tiny snowflakes. “Happy Christmas! 🎨 by George,” the pair captioned a post of the portrait at the time.
