A golden retriever in “service dog training” has gone viral for their dramatic airport nap.

TikToker @lillexlex5 shared hysterical footage of a golden retriever with a “service dog in training” harness being dragged across the floor at an airport. The clip quickly went viral, racking up more than 525,200 likes and 3.1 million views on TikTok.

“Emphasis on ‘in training,'” she wrote as text over the video. “You’re doing amazing sweetie,” she captioned it.

The adorable pup lies flat on their stomach, fast asleep, as their owner gently drags them through the airport queue—clearly not quite ready for a full day on duty.

According to the American Kennel Club, training a service dog can take up to two years and requires consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. Dogs begin by mastering basic obedience before moving on to specialized tasks that support their handler’s unique needs. Early socialization—exposing the dog to different environments, sounds, and situations—is also crucial for preparing them to stay calm and focused in busy places like airports.

Golden retrievers are one of the most popular breeds for service work thanks to their intelligence, gentle temperament, and eagerness to please, according to Jet Pet Resort. Their calm nature makes them ideal for roles ranging from guiding individuals with visual impairments to providing emotional support for those with anxiety or PTSD.

TikTokers were quick to flood the comments section with laughter and relatable jokes.

“‘Out of service’ service dog..” said Vanessa.

“I think he needs a service dog,” added another user.

“Golden retrievers are the funniest,” joked Oana.

Some commenters speculated that the pup might not actually be a service dog, suggesting the owner may have simply bought the vest.

“I fully believe he’s in training, not a fake service dog,” refuted Kaitlin.

“My kind of service dog, knows there are nap times throughout the day,” added one user.

“As a service dog trainer, I feel your pain and persistence! Kudos on early exposure,” shared another viewer.

“He’s literally so sleeeeeepy,” added another user.

“His union rep told him it is time for him to take his mandatory 20 minute break,” joked Tina.
