Police are investigating after a man was found with gunshot wounds following a crash in Melbourne’s north.
Emergency services were called to the Hume Freeway exit and Cooper Street in Epping about 9:30pm following reports of a collision between a car and a truck.
On arrival, police discovered that a 23-year-old man had gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital in a serious condition.
An 18-year-old woman from the same car was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries believed to be a result of the collision.
The truck driver was uninjured, and police do not believe they had any involvement in the shooting.
Officers on scene located a car on fire a short distance away on Cooper Street, and a significant crime scene has been established.
Police are yet to determine if the car fire is linked to the shooting and crash.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established, and an investigation is ongoing.
