A man was discovered with serious burns at New York’s Penn Station on Friday evening and taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center for treatment.
The New York Fire Department said it was called to the incident at around 8 p.m. and that the individual in question was in a stable condition as of late Friday evening.
Speaking to Newsweek a spokesperson for the New York Police Department (NYPD) said they were actively investigating the incident and could not comment on whether they believed it resulted from an accident or foul play.
Newsweek contacted Amtrak, which owns Penn Station, for comment via email on Saturday outside of regular office hours.

The incident took place just days after a woman burned to death on the New York City subway on December 22 after allegedly being set on fire by another passenger.
Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, an undocumented migrant from Guatemala, has been indicted on charges of murder and arson over the incident. Authorities are still trying to establish the victim’s identity.

According to The New York Times a 56-year-old man, who has not been identified, was discovered with sustained but non-life threatening burns at Penn Station on Friday after emergency services were called at around 8 p.m. ET.
Officers from the New York State Police and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police (MTA Police) also responded to the incident in midtown Manhattan. A joint NYPD and MTA Police investigation is ongoing.
According to USA Today the injured man was found with burns across his upper body and legs.

Conservatives argue prominent Democratic-run cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco have lost control over crime and are calling for tougher measures.
