A pet parent offering his dog a treat wanted to make her work for it, but the tables had turned, and the plan backfired immediately.

William, who is known on TikTok as @omg_william, started eating popcorn when his German Shepherd came over with eyeing suspicion. How dare he snack without offering her any?

He decided to offer her a piece of popcorn, which a recent article from the American Kennel Club (AKC) stated is safe for dogs in moderation. Popcorn kernels, with no toppings, contain several minerals important for canine nutrition, such as magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, zinc, fiber and vitamins. This is fine for dogs in small quantities. It is when owners add butter, oils, salt and other toppings that can lead to upset stomachs in dogs.

William made his dog work for the treat. In his June 20 TikTok video, he placed a piece of popcorn in his hand and then held it out for her but kept it under the glass table. He thought he “outsmarted” his dog with the glass preventing her to gobble the treat up. However, within seconds, his dog figured out the trick.

The video’s caption reads: “She solved it way before I could have.”

The dog first sniffed the table at the sight of the popcorn, but she instantly caught on. She slammed her paw onto William’s wrist, pulling his hand down from under the table and giving her access to the treat.

Without wasting another moment, she went straight for the snack, rightfully claiming her treat after being tricked.
