A man has been charged with murder after a woman in her 60s was found with stab wounds to her chest at a home in Mount Pritchard on Sunday about 5pm.
Police said a 28-year-old man – known to the woman – was arrested at the scene and taken to Fairfield Police Station.
The woman, 62, was critically injured when paramedics were called to a unit on Hemphill Avenue but she died at the scene.
Police said the two were known to each other. A crime scene has been established and investigations into the woman’s death will involve the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
The man was refused bail and will appear in Fairfield Local Court on Monday.
