Nicole Ari Parker has reacted to And Just Like That coming to an end after three seasons.
“An honor and a joy to be a part of this iconic family. ❤️,” Parker, 54, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, August 2. “Thank you MPK, @madamefaleshill, @sarahjessicaparker, @iamkristindavis, @cynthiaenixon and the extraordinary writers and producers of @justlikethatmax. From the first day to the last, it has been Just Like That: Amazing.”
Parker joined AJLT, a spinoff of HBO’s original hit series Sex and the City, during its first season in 2021, playing Lisa Todd Wexley. Lisa was introduced as a friend of Charlotte’s (Kristin Davis) and an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Fans also watched the highs and lows of Lisa’s marriage to Herbert Wexley (Christopher Jackson) across the seasons, particularly in season 3.
“To my TV Hubs, the magnificent @Cjack930, there are not enough words to describe the Epic amounts of sidebars, laughter and shenanigans we shared,” Parker added on Saturday. “You are a masterclass in talent, work ethic and generosity of spirit. Hope we can cut up again 😆 one day soon. 👊🏽.”
AJLT showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed on Friday, August 1, that the series would come to an end at the conclusion of season 3, which is currently airing on Max.
“And just like that … the ongoing storytelling of the Sex And The City universe is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,” King’s statement read. “Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12.”
He added, “SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season,” he continued. “It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.”
AJLT followed Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Davis’ Charlotte York nearly two decades after the original series and its two feature-length movies took place. Nicole and Sarita Choudhury (Seema Patel) rounded out the friend group in Samantha’s (Kim Cattrall) absence. (Cattrall, 68, only appeared in one season 2 scene after a rumored feud with Sarah, 60, who long denied the speculation. To account for her character’s absence, the publicist was also incorporated into the series via text messages between Samantha and Carrie.)
“Every year, I have to be deeper, funnier, sadder, more optimistic, sexier. It is everything,” Nicole exclusively gushed of the show in her Us Weekly cover story published in May. “I’m in this place where the things I’ve learned from being told no and the passion I had to get better as an artist, I get to use it all. I can just do it. I feel really prepared for this phase, this journey I’m on.”
New episodes of And Just Like That air Thursdays on Max at 9 p.m. ET.
