So yes, Nintendo, at large, is dominating wishlists this year.
The original model is more affordable than the Switch 2 and still allows you to play your favorite games. It’s also a No. 1 Amazon best-seller.
And it’s not just a New York thing.
Video gaming continues to reign supreme in 2025, with the top three most searched products nationwide all consoles. The Switch 2 leads, followed by the PlayStation 5, which topped 10 states, and the original Switch in third.
Its hybrid design — flip from portable to TV mode in seconds — plus a strong lineup of games makes it the gift that keeps on giving, especially for anyone hoping to score instant cool points this holiday season. It also defies this year’s shipping deadlines if you order ASAP.
The iPad ranked fourth overall, being the most searched-for product in Illinois, Mississippi and South Dakota, with its recent releases including the eleventh-generation iPad, seventh-generation iPad Air, and eighth-generation iPad Pro, making it Apple’s most popular tablet. The Xbox Series X topped searches in two states — Maine and Minnesota — and in Montana, the AirPods Pro 3 led searches.
While the PS5 still packs a high-end punch, the Switch’s portability, approachable design and sheer fun factor have made it a holiday darling. Even longtime Nintendo fans can’t resist upgrading — proof that the hybrid console formula remains irresistible.
Timing has everything, and Nintendo nailed it. Dropping midyear, the Switch arrived just in time to dominate holiday shopping lists.

The search term “Black Friday” was input into Google Trends, set to the Google Shopping tab, with a time range of the last 30 days (11th November to 11th December). The first product under related queries (top) was recorded as the state’s top product. The following states were excluded from the study because no relevant results or data were available: Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
