In a moment that was equal parts culinary triumph and cultural flex, Noma, the Danish restaurant repeatedly crowned the world’s best, sold every seat to its upcoming $1500 Los Angeles residency in just 60 seconds.
The legendary eatery, led by gastronomic genius René Redzepi, is setting up shop from March 11 to June 26 at a secret Silver Lake location that will be provided to guests only after their booking is confirmed.
“We’re so sorry to everyone trying to book tables for noma LA,” Redzepi posted on Instagram this morning. “We’ve sold out faster than ever before. Please add yourself to the waitlist as cancellation happen. Gone in 60 seconds.”
Some online reported having “two windows up” and using “different browsers” to try and score a seat.
For those who couldn’t swing a res to the pricy pop-up eatery, Redzepi revealed he was offering fund-starved foodies another way to fill their appetite for a lux Nordic nosh.
He said the eatery had opened a “test kitchen” from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Courage Bagels on the east side where they served up 250 bagels at $25 a pop.
The chance to get even just a small taste of Noma caused a lunchtime craze.
“Adequately hyped,” one Redditor wrote of the Noma x Courage Bagels pop-up.

According to Instagram, the specialty hot sea salt sesame bagels were loaded with oyster mushrooms and other trendy ingredients such as pumpkin bushi, savory rose fudge, an edible flower called nasturtium and an orange-like citrus fruit called bergamot.
“I drove by without knowing what it was and there were at least like 150 people in line,” another commentator wrote.
While many people were baffled by the $1500 per person price tag for the upcoming residency, there were clearly more than enough who were ready to throw down the cash for the deposit.
“This city really is beyond parody sometimes,” said one Reddit user.
