Two companies have initiated voluntary recalls focused on products containing morigna, a plant used in some supplements, and sold at major retailers across the country after determining that these products may have been contaminated with Salmonella.
The companies Food To Live and Africa Imports announced the recall on powdered supplements, including:
- Organic Moringa Leaf Powder (1 kilogram box) from Africa Imports
- Organic Moringa Leaf Powder in 8 ounce, 1 pound, 2 pound, 4 pound, 8 pound, 16 pound, and 44 pound bags from Food To Live
- Organic Supergreens Powder Mix in 8 ounce, 1 pound, 1.5 pound, 3 pound, 6 pound, and 12 pound bags from Foot To Live
Individuals who have been infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. More rare symptoms can include arterial infections, endocarditis (an infection of the lining of the heart), or arthritis.
Anyone who has purchased these products is advised to stop using the products immediately and dispose of them, as well as reply to any recall notification emails and contact the companies directly with any concerns.
The Africa Imports product was sold nationwide mainly through the company’s website, while Food To Live sold its products through “retail and wholesale channels,” including its own website and retailer e-commerce platforms as a third party via Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Target, Etsy, eBay, and others.
