Pearl the golden retriever was surprised with a newly renovated bedroom for her birthday, and social media is obsessed with her adorable reaction.
After moving to a new home in October 2024, Elizabeth Lang knew she wanted to turn one of the empty rooms into the ultimate bedroom for Pearl. At the beginning of the year, Lang, 30, of Nashville, Tennessee, spent two weeks transforming the space, just in time for Pearl’s fourth birthday on January 15.
Lang told Newsweek that she spent $1,000 on the supplies, paint, and decorations to turn the space into Pearl’s “dream room.” The canine bedroom features an adorable dog-sized sofa, a pink ball pit, a wooden doghouse, a new rug, and a wicker basket filled with toys.
“We revealed Pearl’s room on the weekend of her birthday, and she was so happy,” Lang said. “As she went in, she checked out every part. First, she stopped in the ball pit, then she went to check out her new toy basket full of toys. She sniffed her couch, and even took a moment where she looked up at the painted wall and neon ‘golden girl’ sign.”
Needless to say, Pearl couldn’t love her new room more, as Lang captured her excitement while she toured the newly renovated space. The ball pit in particular caught her attention, and it’s become her favorite feature.
The adorable video was shared on Instagram (@pearl.the.golden.girl) and TikTok (@pearlgoldengirl) to the delight of social media users. The clip has gone viral with more than 2 million views on Instagram and 271,900 views on TikTok at the time of writing.
“Pearl’s favorite part of her room is definitely the ball pit. She has such joy playing in it and she’d play in it all day if we let her,” Lang continued.
“Pearl has given me immense joy and I’m lucky to share that with others on social media. I wanted Pearl to feel some of that joy by surprising her with a room made just for her. A place where we can give her a doghouse, comfy beds, and store her toys and supplies,” she said.
As much as Lang loves seeing Pearl play in the ball pit, that’s not quite her favorite element of the room. Indeed, she loves the green feature wall the most, telling Newsweek that it matches the same green used in the cover for her children’s book, Pearl the Puppy’s Crunchy Cravings.
“The color is named artichoke, which is just perfect,” she added.
How Did TikTok Respond?
After sharing the footage of Pearl’s excited reaction online, Lang was amazed by the positive response.
Pearl has amassed thousands of fans across social media, and they just can’t get enough of the newly renovated room that’s fit for a queen.
Lang told Newsweek: “The response online has been overwhelming, with millions of views across our social media channels. Our audience loves heartwarming content and treating their dog like family.”
The viral video has gained over 1,000 comments on TikTok so far, as many praised the adorable idea of creating a dog bedroom.
One comment reads: “We’re living in a time where our pets get their own room, and I love this for them! They deserve so much.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “I’m absolutely sobbing I wish every dog in the world could have this.”
While one commenter added: “This is what dreams are truly made of.”
