Patrick J. Adams is reflecting on what it was like to work with Meghan Markle on Suits — and revealed he’s received a handwritten letter from the Duchess of Sussex.
“Impeccable handwriting,” Adams, 44, said during his Tuesday, March 31, appearance on Amanda Hirsch’s “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast. “Her writing is truly a work of art. It’s crazy. It’s astonishing.”
The actor added, “I don’t remember the story, but she just did that on her own, right? She was like, ‘I just want to do that.’ She wanted to just have that skill.”
Adams couldn’t recall a specific letter he received from Meghan, but he “certainly” has one.
“Over the years, for sure,” he continued. “Start gifts and wrap gifts and stuff. Yeah, 100 percent.”
Despite working alongside Meghan, 44, for years on Suits, Adam disclosed that he “did not get a jam” when her brand, As Ever, was launched.
“I didn’t get anything,” he joked. “I don’t have enough followers, I don’t think.”
Adams wondered if people were “still getting jams” before asking Hirsch to “be real” about her experience tasting the jam.
“You’re treating it like a champagne?” Adams said when hearing that Hirsch has yet to take it out of the box.
Adams said that the podcast host should have brought the jam to their recording session.
“It’s gonna go bad,” he added. “How long do preserves last? It’s going to go bad.”
Adams played Meghan’s onscreen love interest from 2011 to 2018. They both left Suits after the show’s seventh season.
The actor explained on Tuesday’s podcast why he’s been protective over his former costar amid her romance with husband Prince Harry. (The couple have been married since 2018 and share two children.)
“What she’s gone through is insane,” he said. Adams also referenced his Instagram bio — which reads, “The other guy from that show that you’re watching on that app because that girl married that prince” — saying that he might need to change it soon.
“It’s the sort of thing that wherever Meghan is, if she’s ever read that, she’s going, ‘Patrick.’ I got a lot of eye rolls,” he added. “That was a constant with Meghan, just a lot of rolling her eyes at me, like, ‘Oh, my God, what are you doing?’”
Adams clarified that Meghan has “never” said anything about the social media bio, but he knows “he got an eye roll” for it.
“Literally, yesterday or two days ago, I was like, ‘I have to change that. I have to change it.’ So it’s gonna have to change soon,” he said, “It’s gonna go. We got our play from it.”
