The Philadelphia Phillies are backed into a bit of a corner this offseason. They have a lot of talent on their roster, but they also have a lot of talent hitting free agency this winter.
Kyle Schwarber headlines their list of free agents, but he’s not the only top talent on the market. Players like Ranger Suárez, JT Realmuto, and Harrison Bader are all free agents, too.
Bleacher Report’s Adam Wells recently predicted Bader would sign a two-year, $30 million deal with the San Francisco Giants this offseason.
“One of those teams that could pursue Bader is the San Francisco Giants,” Wells wrote. “Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported on Sunday that the 32-year-old is someone who ‘piques’ the Giants’ interest because they need outfield help and he might only command a deal in the range of two to three years.
“The Philadelphia Phillies have publicly expressed a desire to bring Bader back. He figures to be lower on their offseason priority list because they also have to try and retain Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto and Ranger Suárez.”
The Giants need to add a lot of talent to their roster if they want to chase down the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
Adding Bader would be an affordable move for the Giants, but it would also be solid enough to begin moving the needle. The veteran outfielder would be a solid addition to the outfield in San Francisco. A Gold Glove defender like Bader would work very well in the huge outfield in San Francisco.
