The family of a man missing since Thursday after he failed to return from a snorkelling session off the West Australian coast have issued a plea for searches to continue for the 32-year-old.
Wen Ren “Walter” Gu was snorkelling with friends on Thursday at Ledge Point Beach, about 100 kilometres north of Perth, when his friends realised he did not return with the group at 3pm.

WA Police launched a significant sea and air search, but by Friday evening it was scaled back.
On Saturday, a friend of Gu’s posted into a Ledge Point community group that they did not want to give and hoped to continue searching.
“If you or someone you know were at Ledge Point Beach that day, saw someone rescue or pick up an Asian male, have any photos, videos, dashcam footage, or related information, please send me a direct message,” the message read.
“Any small piece of information could be crucial.”

The post said they were unable to confirm whether Gu made it back to shore on his own or was rescued by nearby members of the public.
“The Australian police conducted search and rescue operations for 24 hours and have since stopped,” it said.
