This morning, court reporter Rebecca Peppiatt has revealed that a man, labelled as a “monster” in court, was sentenced to almost two decades behind bars over the violent rape of a young Mandurah mother in her own home.
Joshua Stephen Morrison, 37, showed no emotion while the woman’s triple-zero call, as well as body worn camera footage taken by police shortly after, were played at the judge’s request during his sentencing last week.

Education reporter Holly Thompson writes that over 1200 West Australian public school teachers resigned in 2024, new figures show, with nearly 20 per cent of those citing high levels of stress and the resulting burnout as a key reason.
The latest figures, revealed in parliament last week, showed 230 teachers called out those problems in their departmental exit surveys.
