A tearful Premier Jacinta Allan has said she is deeply embarrassed after her husband, Yorick Piper, was stripped of his driver’s licence for drink driving during a morning trip to the supermarket.
Crying, the premier told reporters on Friday her husband, a former union official and political advisor, was intercepted for a random breath test in Bendigo on his way to buy some groceries. He had been involved in a minor collision at an intersection shortly before the test.

“Yesterday morning, just before 9am, my husband, Yorick, was driving to the supermarket in Bendigo to pick up some groceries when he was pulled over for a random breath test,” Allan said.
Physically, he’s okay as a result of yesterday, but yes, we’re embarrassed and shocked and most truly sorry for what has occurred here.

“As a result of this test, he blew 0.05 he has, as a result, has received an on the spot fine and lost his license for three months.

“We’re embarrassed and shocked and most truly sorry for what has occurred here, because drink driving and road trauma are incredibly, incredibly serious,” she said.

Allan was visibly emotional as she addressed the media to reveal what happened.
