Serious crashes on two major roads in Perth’s southern suburbs on Monday morning have led to closures and delays for commuters.
Around 3.40am, police were called after a car caught fire on Leach Highway, near Abernethy Road in Cloverdale.
The car caught fire after it collided with a second car. The highway is closed in both directions between Tonkin Highway and Orrong Road, and is expected to remain closed for an extended period.
At 4.30am, in a separate incident, police were called regarding a crash involving a car and a cyclist at the intersection of Spearwood Avenue and Howson Way in Bibra Lake.
Police and emergency services are responding to the crash. Spearwood Avenue northbound is closed between Cocus Drive and Barrington Road and is also expected to remain shut for some time.
Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes and to monitor the Main Roads WA website for road closure updates.
More to come.
