Throughout his years as a TV analyst, Stephen A. Smith has never been shy to jab at the Dallas Cowboys. Following their latest move, the longtime reporter did not hold back with his true feelings.

Over the past few weeks, the Cowboys’ saga with Micah Parsons has grown into a messy ordeal. The star linebacker barely practiced due to a back injury, didn’t suit up in any preseason games, and requested a trade back on August 1st. On top of this, Jerry Jones has also made some choice remarks on the situation in the media.

Although the Cowboys have had dragged-out affairs with star talents in the past, things ended much differently this time around. Shockwaves were sent through the NFL world when reports emerged that Micah Parsons had been traded. He’s now heading to the Green Bay Packers, where he’ll ink the largest deal for a non-quarterback in history.

Stephen A. Smith weighs in on Micah Parsons trade

As expected, the Parsons trade was a major topic of conversation across all sports talk shows. While on First Take, Stephen A. gave his reaction to the Cowboys’ franchise-altering move. He feels Dallas made a mistake so massive that it could have a lasting impact on Jones’ legacy.

“This is what it is. This is a disaster for Jerry Jones. This is a bad, bad situation” Stephen A. said. “I think this is something that is going to taint whatever he hoped to have, because this is not a football decision. He can slice it anyway he wants to. Micah Parsons is a superstar-caliber player in the national football league. You traded him for two late first-round picks.”

In exchange for Parsons, the Cowboys received Kenny Clark and first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. While they are firsts, they likely won’t be high selections as Stephen A. alluded to. Upon adding the All-Pro linebacker, Green Bay is poised to contend in the NFC. This likely means that their first-rounders will end up falling in the mid-to-late twenties at best.

Many felt that each side needed to move on after things unfolded, and that ended up being the case. Now, the Cowboys will attempt to fill the massive void left in their defense.

Dallas will have its first official game without Parsons next Thursday, when they face off against the reigning champion Philadelphia Eagles.
