UPDATE: 1/27/26 at 5 a.m. ETQuinton Aaron’s wife, Margarita, gave an update on the actor’s health, revealing that he is on life support.

“He opened his eyes today and gave a thumbs up,” Aaron’s wife told TMZ on Monday, January 26, adding that he is partially breathing on his own without the support of medical aids.

A GoFundMe page raising money to support Aaron and his family also offered an update on his condition.

“Quinton has opened his eyes and has some feeling in his foot! He is still on life support and going through tests,” the update read. “We are looking at quite a recovery time and will need a wheelchair when he is released while he goes through therapy to walk again. Thank you to all of you for your support and prayers.”

Original story:

The Blind Side actor Quinton Aaron is in the hospital after falling in his home.

Aaron’s manager told TMZ on Sunday, January 25, that the 41-year-old was taken to an Atlanta hospital three days prior after his legs suddenly stopped functioning while he was walking up the stairs in his apartment, causing him to collapse.

Us Weekly has reached out to a representative for Aaron for comment.

A GoFundMe page created for the actor, who portrayed college football player Michael Oher in the 2009 film alongside Sandra Bullock, claimed he was “on life support due to a severe blood infection.”

However, his manager told TMZ that Aaron is stable and communicating with his family and team while receiving medical care.

The manager also noted that doctors are still doing tests to evaluate Aaron’s condition. At this time, it is still unclear what caused him to fall.

The reports come three months after Aaron, who also starred in The Wedding Pact 2 alongside Haylie Duff and Left Behind opposite Nicolas Cage, took to social media to reveal that he’d lost 200 pounds. “Hey guys it has definitely been a tough few years since Covid. Made new friends and lost old ones. However, last year when I married my #puertoriqueña @margaritaleta75 I feel like God started smiling on me and I praise him for his grace and mercy and favor in my life,” he captioned an October 14, 2025, Instagram carousel that showed his physical transformation.

The post continued, “At my heaviest, I was 575 pounds. As of today, I am 370 pounds.”

The snaps showed Aaron posing in pants that no longer fit him, as well as full-length frames that flaunted a slimmer figure. He was also seen flashing a smile after getting a haircut.

During an interview with TMZ at the time, Aaron detailed that he’s shed the weight by incorporating diet changes and cardio sessions.

He also shared his motivation for the body transformation with the outlet, crediting his wife, Margarita Aaron, whom he married in December 2024. “Mentally, physically and emotionally, she has been my confidant and shelter through my storms,” he told the outlet. “I truly believe God was blessing me with one of his angels when he sent her to me. She’s helped me get over my depression and so much more. She loves to tell people that she only does 5 percent and I do the other 95 percent but I believe she’s much more important in my life than even she gives herself credit for.”

Earlier in 2025, Aaron was admitted into the hospital after suffering type A influenza and walking pneumonia. A friend of his, Liana Mendoze, told Us Weekly exclusively in March that year that an “ancient witch doctor style of healing” led to her pal’s recovery.

She said that after antibiotics failed, a spiritual healer visited him to perform a spiritual cleansing known as limpia that is said to rid the body of negative energy. From there, she said, Aaron began “turning the corner.”

Per the Institute of Shamanism and Curanderismo, a limpia is a Mexican ritual that “cleanses the body, emotions, mind and soul from negative energies and thoughts.”
